Cap's Infinity War shield

My second serious swing at making a prop from a movie went off the rails pretty quick.
Decent resolution images of the actual movie prop were difficult to come by, and available templates didn't appear to be super faithful to the movie shield. So, away my imagination went and ended up landing on a vaguely Kirby-esque take on the Wakandan shield.

The base of the shield is recycled EVA foam floor mats and a pack of Neon multicolored 3mm craft foam for the detailing. I ended up botching a few of the side specific parts, hence the asymmetrical colored bits, but still it ended up looking pretty dang rad. But then the paint came.

Four coats of Matte Black Rustoleum 'Peel-Coat', the locally available analog of Plasti-dip. Silver accents were initially painted in with a few coats of a cheap acrylic, but the coverage on it suuucked, so I busted out my miniatures paints and slapped a coat of 'Gunmetal metal' Vallejo Model Color on there and that got me proper coverage. Then came the sponge dry brushing.

Initially I had two posts glued and reinforced on in place for a vinyl wrapped foam handle (which sits on my desk awaiting a purpose) but due to the dished shape of the shield, ended up being far too narrow to be usable so off that came with a knife, and replaced with a hacked up Dog leash handle. It's comfy and can be used with a closed hand or wrapped around the wrist leaving your hands free to hold stuff.

The forearm loop is two lengths of floor mat edging glued together and wrapped in vinyl. It works awesome, is comfortable and sits well. I'll be using that set up pretty often going forward I think.

On the whole, I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. Granted, the black paintjob over the colors was ultimately a step backward. It looked cool as hell, and the actual paintjob is pretty boring.
drop your thoughts in the comments. Cheers.
